Kiara

My Story

Kiara was born and raised in San José. Born into a large family that nurtured early leadership skills and passion-building habits to go after what one perceives as most vital; Kiara took pride in her community and the city she found herself in. Growing up in the beautiful and humble Washington-Guadalupe neighborhood, Kiara was motivated to give back and improve the community that had, from the beginning, been there for her and provided her the opportunities to be who she was.

When Kiara was eventually offered the amazing opportunity to volunteer for her local library Biblioteca Latinoamericana, she quickly rose to become Vice President of the TeensReach Program. As the Vice President of the TeensReach program, she helped orchestrate efficient and structured organizational methods and planning for the youth center. Active and determined, Kiara was a profound community leader at the community center as well as being a member of the Guadalupe Washington Neighborhood Association. Over time, Kiara would refine and master organization skills which was extensively supported by her track record of hosting large-scale events, her time at the youth center, and stellar ability to provide excellent customer service.

Kiara lives with the passion of working with others and loves to help encourage positivity and optimism during a time where division and hatred seem to be normalized. Prior to her current position as Chief of Staff for Councilmember Torres, Kiara had also served as Chief of Staff for former San José City Councilmember Magdalena Carrasco.
